Birgir Jónsson is a former CEO of PLAY Airlines, where he led the Icelandic low-cost carrier during its launch and early expansion until March 2024. Earlier in his career he was CEO of Iceland Express and deputy CEO of WOW Air. His experience spans airline start-ups, commercial restructuring and the economics of operating from Iceland’s highly seasonal market.
